Gemotions

"This will be perfect!" Emily beamed, adjusting her camera. She wanted to capture the majestic redwood in the golden hour light. She imagined the pictures. She imagined the *feeling* of standing beside it.

Her smile faltered as she saw the gaping absence. The camera slipped from her grasp, landing with a soft thud. There was a hollow ache in her chest.

She picked up the camera, brushing off the dust. Then, slowly, she raised it and began to photograph the stump, each angle, each detail. She’d remember it this way.
