Liam whistled, dusting off his hands after opening the final crate. The musty scent of aged wood and forgotten things filled his nostrils. He’d dreamt of this moment, of what treasures might await. His sister, ever the sentimental one, had already retreated with a trunk of trinkets and memories. He, on the other hand, was after something more practical.

Inside his trunk, instead of the antique tools he expected, he found a collection of meticulously crafted blueprints. The drawings outlined complex mechanical devices, inventions his grandfather had never spoken of. The lines swam before his eyes. He leaned forward, utterly absorbed, seeing a future unfolding before him.
