“Take a pottery class,” read the list, penned on a notepad Sam had used to draft a screenplay. David, recognizing the handwriting, felt a warm glow.

He looked up pottery classes near them, his fingers scrolling with a focused intensity. He also started looking at equipment. He found a studio that offered weekend workshops. He signed him up immediately.

He imagined them both, covered in clay, laughing and creating together. He smiled and started creating a makeshift potter’s wheel in the backyard. The whole idea filled him with a powerful energy.
