Daniel choked on his coffee, the bitter liquid suddenly tasting like ashes. He’d stumbled upon it by accident, a random Google search turning up the diary he’d thought long lost. The entry about his first crush, the awkward poetry he’d penned, the sheer embarrassing earnestness…it was all there.

He scrambled to click away, but the page was already burned onto his memory. He felt a wave of nausea wash over him. His cheeks flushed crimson, the heat spreading down his neck. He wanted to scream.

He stared out the window, at the bright morning, at the world going about its business, utterly oblivious to his internal catastrophe. He felt completely exposed, naked.
