Gemotions

The dinner conversation had been strained, the silence punctuated by polite smiles. Then, as David rose to clear the table, he heard it. It was so faint at first, but it became clearer with each passing moment. A murmuring of words, coming from the living room.

He walked toward the sound, his movements slow, heavy. He found his wife, Sarah, sitting on the sofa, her laptop open. The screen glowed, illuminating her face. She was watching a video, and the audio was…it was his father's tongue.

His chest tightened. He felt a pressure building, a sensation of suffocation. He had always kept this part of his life separate, private. He didn't know what to do.
