Gemotions

A shiver traced down Elena's spine. She was tidying up the bedroom when she heard it. Her partner, Mark, was in the bathroom, humming along to some music. The music was nothing out of the ordinary, but there was a strange inflection to the tune.

She followed the sound and listened at the door. He was singing, but the words were foreign. She pressed her ear closer, and realized he was not just singing, but attempting to sing in her mother tongue.

Her hands clenched into fists. She didn't want him to understand this facet of her, which was so personal and important to her. She wanted to remain independent with it.
