Gemotions

The sight of Liam holding her journal made her stomach clench. He was flipping through the pages casually, a small, knowing smile playing on his lips. She stood frozen, her hand still on the doorknob, the flimsy wood suddenly seeming inadequate as a shield. Her breath hitched, and she instinctively took a step backward, wanting to retreat back into the hallway, away from the scene.

“Oh, hey,” Liam said, his voice light. “Just… catching up on your thoughts.”

She felt a strange heat creep up her neck. Her fingers twitched, and a sudden need to snatch the book from his grasp overwhelmed her. But she remained rooted to the spot, a silent, trembling figure in the doorway. She found herself unable to speak.
