The concert hall was packed. She’d come to support a friend, but the opening act began, and a wave of nausea washed over her. The first notes of *her* song filled the cavernous space. The singer, a young man with a cocky grin, had clearly stolen her work. He was performing it with a swagger, a carelessness that made her blood boil. Her hands clenched into fists, nails digging into her palms. She wanted to yell, to accuse him, but she was paralyzed, glued to her seat, the world narrowing to the stage and the travesty unfolding there.
