Liam stared at the glowing screen, his pulse drumming against his ribs. Mrs. Gable, his English teacher, had requested to follow him on Twitter. He felt a sickening lurch in his gut, like he'd just ridden a particularly violent roller coaster. He had to breathe. He closed his eyes and attempted deep breaths.

He had ranted about the school's cafeteria food earlier. Would she see that? He imagined her reading through his snarky tweets. He’d made some ill-considered comments about her assigned reading list. He felt his cheeks burn.

He tapped furiously on the screen, opening up his profile to check what he’d posted lately. The urge to scrub his account clean consumed him.
