Liam felt his stomach clench. He’d just overheard Sarah, from accounting, talking about her childhood. Now, she was describing her summers at Camp Clearwater. A place Liam had also, regrettably, attended. His palms began to sweat.

"Oh, the talent show was *hilarious* that year," she was saying, giggling. "Remember the time someone tried to juggle flaming torches?" Liam felt the blood drain from his face. He remembered. He was the one who'd tried to juggle the torches.

He cleared his throat, trying to sound casual. "Camp Clearwater, huh? Small world." He quickly excused himself, mumbling something about a forgotten spreadsheet, and practically sprinted back to his cubicle. The fluorescent lights seemed to hum with an oppressive familiarity.
