He knew what this meant. He’d blasted her for her ‘woke’ lectures in a series of scathing posts. Now, she was probing, analyzing. He felt as if his private life was an open wound.

He ignored the email, letting it sit in his inbox like a festering sore. He hated the way she'd used the phrase, "I am disappointed by your views," in the feedback on his last exam. He imagined her smugly reading his posts now, confirming her preconceptions. He hated them all.
