Gemotions

The yearbook. That was the worst part, thought Jessica. The discovery of her past was a slow burn of horror. Her mother, giddy with nostalgia, had spread the yearbooks across the dining table. Jessica forced a smile as she flipped through the pages.

Then came the photos of clubs she'd joined, events she’d participated in, all the while thinking it would provide a sense of belonging. The faces of her former classmates, their expressions frozen in time, made her squirm. Her mouth went dry. Her classmates all seemed to have found their places.

She abruptly stood up and began clearing the table, a sudden and urgent need to organize something, anything, filling her.
