"Your article is trending!" her friend texted, with a link. He clicked the link, dread pooling in his stomach. His heart sank. He knew immediately that he was looking at the fruit of his labor, but credited to another author.

He felt a sudden, sharp ache in his chest, making it hard to breathe. He wanted to scream. He wanted to erase the whole thing.

He threw his phone across the room, it hit the wall with a dull thud. The world around him seemed to lose all definition. He felt utterly hollow, a shell of his former self.
