The microphone screeched as Mr. Henderson attempted to adjust the volume. His hands were shaking so badly that he could barely hold the instrument steady. The school’s talent show had been a complete disaster. His act, a meticulously choreographed dance routine, had gone horribly wrong. He had forgotten the steps and bumped into a spotlight, leaving the stage in bewildered darkness. Now, a student, one of the shyest kids in his class, approached him. The boy was carrying a small, wrapped package.

“Mr. Henderson?” the boy asked, his voice barely a whisper.

Mr. Henderson could only nod, his cheeks burning.

The boy presented the gift, a small, velvet box. He didn't say a word. Inside, nestled on satin lining, was a tiny, intricately carved wooden figure. It depicted a clumsy dancer, mid-tumble, his face contorted in a comical expression. Underneath it was a tiny note, which read: "Practice makes perfect." He tried to smile, but no sound would come out.
