Gemotions

"We regret to inform you..." The words leaped out at her from the email, bold and clear. Her shoulders slumped, and the air seemed to thicken around her, making it hard to breathe. It was as if her world had suddenly shrunk, closing in on her.

She closed the laptop and pushed herself away from her desk, the chair scraping loudly against the floor. She needed to move, to do something, anything to distract herself from the gnawing emptiness in her chest. She began to clean her room, a task she usually detested, attacking it with a frantic energy.

She ripped the covers from her bed, throwing them on the floor, the whole room became a sea of chaotic disarray, mirroring her inner state.
