It had started with small things: missed calls, secretive glances, hushed phone calls taken in the other room. Now, Liam knew the truth, the confirmation delivered in a series of cryptic emails on his partner, Daniel's, computer. The world had tilted on its axis, and everything felt different. The air in their apartment suddenly seemed stale, lacking any of the comfort it used to possess.

He slammed the laptop shut, the sound echoing through the otherwise silent house. He walked to the window, staring out at the rain-slicked street below. Each raindrop seemed to represent a lost promise, a shattered dream.
