Gemotions

It was the culmination of everything she'd worked for: the publication of her research in a prestigious medical journal. Except, it wasn't. Her name was nowhere to be found. Instead, the byline belonged to her department head, a man who had offered guidance, but ultimately, had taken her work. She stared at the page, her world tilting.

Her head throbbed. She found herself at her desk, staring blankly at the screen. The familiar objects around her – the pictures of her friends, the diplomas – seemed to mock her. The silence of the office magnified the turmoil in her mind.

She closed her eyes, trying to conjure the energy to confront the situation. But fear, and a sense of helplessness, held her back. She picked up a pen and started to scribble furiously on a piece of paper, the lines becoming increasingly erratic, reflecting the chaos inside her.
