Chef Anya crumpled the review and stuffed it deep inside a drawer, a futile attempt to make it disappear. “Clumsy… disjointed… a culinary disaster.” She walked through the kitchen of "Spice Route," barely acknowledging her staff. She focused instead on the rhythmic chopping of vegetables, the sizzle of the pan, the steam rising from a simmering pot of broth. She worked with feverish intensity, her movements precise, almost mechanical. She wanted to prove the critic wrong, to silence the voice that echoed in her mind, repeating the cruel words, over and over again. But she felt the familiar knot forming in her stomach, a constant reminder of her failure.
