The vibrant colors of the art gallery mocked Liam. He wandered through the rooms, the beauty of the paintings utterly lost on him. He had just bumped into another of Jessica's lovers, Mark, and the details of their overlapping relationships had spilled into the air like spilled paint. The elegant, curated space felt alien, the hushed voices of the other attendees seeming to taunt him. He stopped in front of a particularly colorful abstract piece, and found himself staring at it, unseeing, his mind replaying every detail of Mark's story, each new fact making the ache in his chest worse.
