The notification buzzed on her phone: *Package Delivered*. *Amelia Thorne*. The name was a phantom limb, a constant reminder. She let out a small, involuntary sigh.

She delayed going to the mailbox, puttering around the apartment, doing chores. Finally, she gathered the mail and stood in front of the box. She held the package and hesitated.
