He was halfway through dinner when he noticed the package. *Amelia Thorne*. The name, once distant, now felt like a taunt. His appetite vanished.

He pushed his plate away, suddenly aware of the echoing emptiness of the apartment. He moved towards the door, ignoring the insistent thrum in his ears. He looked at the package, and then glanced at the hallway mirror and the person staring back at him.

Inside the package, a collection of handwritten letters, addressed to Amelia. He could barely breathe. He walked to the window and stared at the dark and stormy night.
