The concert was supposed to be a celebration. Lily had finally convinced her childhood friend, Sarah, to come with her. The music blasted from the speakers, the lights flashing; the atmosphere was electric. During a lull between songs, Lily grabbed Sarah’s hand, giddy with anticipation. "Remember when we used to pretend we were rock stars?" she yelled over the music. Sarah frowned, a puzzled crease appearing between her eyebrows. "I don't think I do." The music seemed to deafen as Lily's heart felt heavy. She was overwhelmed by the sudden disconnect; the music felt flat, the lights blinding. Without a word, she pulled her hand away.
