Gemotions

The party was in full swing, music blasting from the speakers. I recognized the song immediately. "Midnight Bloom," the first song I ever wrote.

My world tilted. The singer's voice was strong and powerful, a far cry from the amateur recordings I’d made in my bedroom. I felt the heat rise in my cheeks, a burning sensation.

I grabbed a drink, my hand shaking, and sought refuge in the corner. The lyrics, my words, sounded foreign, detached. The song, once my solace, now just felt like a painful reminder of everything I had lost.
