Liam slammed his locker shut with unnecessary force, the metal echoing down the deserted hallway. He'd seen it, the notification – Mr. Henderson, his photography teacher, had started following him. Liam had always admired Mr. Henderson's work, the way he captured light and shadow. Now, he felt a knot tighten in his stomach.

He ran a hand through his hair, a gesture that usually calmed him, but it didn't work today. He was suddenly self-conscious, picturing Mr. Henderson scrutinizing his photos, judging them. He felt a deep sense of disquiet, as if something precious had been violated. He decided against going to the park, the usual place where he liked to take photographs. The idea of Mr. Henderson possibly seeing them felt unbearable.
