Gemotions

The letter was discovered taped to the back of an old painting. She recognized her own handwriting immediately. The letter was to her muse, a man who had ignited her creative spirit, a man who had ultimately rejected her.

She lowered herself into a chair, the room suddenly spinning. Her vision blurred, the edges of the room undulating. She read the words, once so full of passion, now a painful echo of a past that would never return.

Her breath hitched in her throat. Her throat felt tight. The canvas, which once seemed vibrant and alive, now felt dull and lifeless. She leaned forward, the painting falling from her grasp, the sound of the thud resonating in the quiet room.
