The argument had been going on for over an hour, but now, David felt a wave of cold dread consume him. “It was *our* apartment, Liam!” he yelled, his voice sounding thin and reedy. “We painted the walls yellow! We argued about it for a week!” Liam just stared at him, his face pale, his eyes wide, a flicker of something in them that David couldn’t quite name. “No, no, that apartment... it was blue. The landlord hated it." David slammed his fist on the table, the force of the action shocking him. He jumped, his heart leaping into his throat. He felt like his world was collapsing, dissolving into a chaotic mess. The floor beneath his feet seemed to sway.
