The world had tilted on its axis. Sarah, eyes wide, devoured the digital words, each phrase a fresh stab of mortification. The memory of the diary, tucked away in her attic, now felt like a cruel joke. Every secret desire, every clumsy attempt at poetry, every venomous comment about her peers - all public.

She clawed at her throat, as though something were lodged there. The small, cluttered living room felt impossibly large, the silence deafening. A sob escaped her, quickly followed by another, and another, until her whole body shook.

She couldn't stop the tremors. Her fingers fumbled for her phone, but she dropped it, the screen cracking as it hit the floor. She needed to tell someone, anyone, but the words wouldn't come.
