The news hit Emily like a ton of bricks. Her diary, painstakingly handwritten and kept locked away, was now on display for the entire internet to consume. She felt a crushing weight on her chest, making it difficult to breathe.

She stumbled backwards, her legs feeling weak and unreliable. She leaned against the wall, trying to find some semblance of balance. Her vision was blurring, and the room was starting to spin.

A sob escaped her, and another, each one tearing from deep within her. She put her hands over her mouth, trying to stifle the sounds, but they kept coming, a torrent of raw, unfiltered anguish. She needed to hide.
