Gemotions

The hammer slipped from her grasp, clattering to the floor as the brick shifted. The wall, previously solid, now groaned inwards, revealing a rectangular space. The air inside felt colder than the rest of the basement. A wave of nausea washed over her. She gripped the edge of the newly revealed opening, knuckles white, her body trembling.

Her mind raced, a series of frantic thoughts colliding with each other. *What is it? What's inside? Who did this?* The questions echoed unanswered in her head. She squeezed her eyes shut, trying to fight back the wave of dizziness that threatened to consume her. Her throat felt tight, constricted.

She needed to scream, to run, to do anything other than stand here and stare at the darkness. But her feet were rooted to the spot, her body frozen in a state of terror. The only sound was the frantic pounding of her own heart.
