Gemotions

The front door slammed behind him, and immediately, Alex was overwhelmed. He felt a sudden, inexplicable urge to flee. He stood in the entryway, frozen.

His sister, Jessica, had gone into the kitchen, humming a tuneless song, completely unfazed. Her nonchalance only heightened his unease. He felt as though the floor was about to give way beneath him.

He began to hyperventilate. The house felt like a tomb. It held too many memories, too many unspoken words. He wanted to rip the wallpaper off the walls.

He had to get out. He couldn't stay here another minute. He turned to leave, but his legs wouldn’t obey.
