The moment the key turned in the lock, Sam started to feel... off. The familiar smells of the house, once comforting, now felt alien, almost hostile. A strange, prickling sensation ran up his arms.

His sister, Chloe, was bustling around, her energy almost manic. He wanted to tell her to stop, to slow down. He felt a cold sweat breaking out on his forehead.

He started to pace, his steps erratic and clumsy. He couldn't bear to look at the furniture, the objects that seemed to echo with his grandmother’s presence. Each object was a reminder, each silence a deafening roar.
