Gemotions

The world tilted. Emily felt a wave of nausea, her vision swimming. The offending object was resting on the desk, the notebook, her notebook, its cover facing up. She saw the familiar loop of her handwriting, the date, and then the words, *“Dear Diary…”* and everything after that. Across the room, Chloe, her roommate, stared back with wide, unreadable eyes. Emily's fingers felt numb. She wanted to scream, to lash out, but the words were trapped, lodging in her throat like a physical obstruction.
