Gemotions

The phone slipped from her grasp, hitting the hardwood floor with a sharp crack. She didn’t register the sound. A low moan escaped her, a sound of utter disbelief and anguish. Her hands flew to her mouth, as if to physically prevent the words from forming. The world seemed to shrink, the walls of her perfectly curated apartment closing in. Her head spun, and the images on the framed photographs that adorned the walls seemed to shift, mocking her. "They...they *lied*," she choked out, her voice thin and reedy. She began to pace, back and forth, the movement frantic and aimless.
