"This can't be happening," I muttered, my voice barely audible. A cold wave washed over me, leaving me shivering despite the warmth of the afternoon sun. Two parties. On the same day. It was a joke, a cruel, elaborate joke. My hands trembled as I tried to pick up the invitations again, my fingers clumsy and awkward.

I wanted to laugh, but the sound caught in my throat, turning into a strangled sob. The world seemed to tilt, the colors blurring into a chaotic mess. My breath came in shallow, panicked gasps. I ran my hands through my hair, feeling the strands twist and tangle.

I felt a desperate need to flee, to escape this impossible situation. My thoughts were a jumbled mess, each one colliding with the next. My vision was starting to darken at the edges.
