The letter was found shoved between the pages of a cookbook, stained with what looked suspiciously like coffee. Sarah recognized her own messy, hurried script immediately. A lump formed in her throat as she began to read. Her vision became blurry, and she had to blink furiously. The letter had been addressed to her ex-husband, a man she hadn't spoken to in years.

"…I’m not myself anymore. I’m lost in this fog," the letter began, detailing her descent into the unhappiness of the relationship. It brought the memories back with a sickening force. A sob caught in her throat, a sound she couldn't control.

The kitchen became a prison. The sunlight, once welcome, now seemed to mock her. She felt like she was back in that kitchen, the air thick with unspoken words. Her chest felt tight, as if she couldn't take a full breath.
