Gemotions

The letter lay on the floor, beneath a mountain of old photographs. David bent to pick it up, his hand shaking. It was addressed to his brother, a brother he hadn't spoken to in years. He sat on the floor, the photographs blurring before his eyes. He started reading.

"…I keep seeing your face, and the words just won't come out. I can't sleep, and I keep reliving it," David read. He had known his brother was dying when he wrote the letter, but it was just a letter, never sent, and now a painful memory.

The room seemed to shrink, the walls closing in. He felt a sudden, overpowering need to scream, a primal urge that clawed at his throat. His hands clenched into fists, the nails digging into his palms. He didn't know what to do.
