Gemotions

The discovery was made during a spring clean. Amelia's gaze locked on the familiar script scrawled across the paper. It was addressed to her father, long since departed. She held the letter and began to read.

"…I don't know how to forgive myself," the words on the page stated, the content of which she felt acutely. Tears welled, blurring the ink. She felt her face burn, an internal fire consuming her.

She paced the room, the floorboards creaking under her hurried steps. The silence of the house amplified the frantic beating of her heart. She couldn't stop the tremors that wracked her body. She clutched the letter tighter, crumpling the edges, a desperate grasp at the past she could no longer reach.
