"They can't," she whispered, the words barely audible. The email's content seemed to mock her. The polished language, the corporate-speak, it all felt so…wrong. The world around her seemed to shrink, the walls of the office closing in.

She felt a rush of heat, as if she were suddenly trapped in a sauna. Her pulse raced, thrumming in her ears like a frantic drumbeat. She needed air, but the air in the office felt thick, heavy, unbreathable.

She jumped to her feet, knocking over her chair in her haste. She had to get away, to escape this suffocating feeling. The sounds of the office began to fade, her own heartbeat becoming the only thing she could hear. She had to run.
