Gemotions

The world was shrinking. The metal walls seemed to press closer, the air thickening with each passing minute. Sarah kept patting her pockets, searching for something, anything, to ground her. Her hands trembled violently. “My phone…where’s my phone?” she stammered, her voice high and thin.

Mark remained surprisingly collected, leaning against the back wall. "It's okay. They'll be here soon." But she didn't believe him. Each passing second amplified the dread that was coursing through her.

She had to get out. She had to. She scratched at the door, pounding uselessly with her fists. The metal felt cold, unyielding. "Help! Someone, help us!" Her voice echoed, swallowed by the mechanical symphony of the elevator.

Her breath came in short, shallow pants. The scent of stale air and her own fear filled her nostrils. She began to hyperventilate. The world swam.
