The constant clicking of the knitting needles grated on Arthur’s nerves. His daughter, Iris, had adopted his knitting hobby, once a source of comfort and relaxation, and twisted it into an incessant practice. The house was now overrun with yarn, needles, and half-finished projects. He felt choked.

Iris had started knitting clothes for her pet hamster. She'd stopped eating.

He paced the room, his hands trembling. He found the needles in her bedroom. They were stained with her tears. He wanted to throw them away.

“Dad, look! I finished the sweater!” Iris's voice, high-pitched and strained, broke the silence. Arthur felt a cold dread settle in his stomach.
