Gemotions

The old photographs, now meaningless, scattered across the floor. They were like a kaleidoscope of wrongness. I ran a hand across my face, wanting to scrub it, to cleanse it. I felt a pressure behind my eyes that threatened to split my skull. My vision blurred.

The floorboards seemed to groan under my feet, each sound a reminder. I was stuck. I was trapped. I felt as if the air was being sucked out of the room.

I slumped against the wall, my legs giving way beneath me. The world spun. I felt as if I was watching myself from outside my body, powerless, unable to stop the tide of panic rising within.
