The champagne flute felt heavy in Amelia's hand. She swirled the bubbly, the bubbles doing little to soothe her. Another overly effusive bridesmaid grabbed her arm, launching into a story about the seating arrangements. Amelia's smile felt brittle, like it might shatter. Her gaze flicked across the room, searching for the bar. Anything to get away from the relentless cheerfulness. She just needed a refill, then maybe she could finally breathe. This was supposed to be a joyous occasion, not a trial by social interaction.
