He bounced his knee, the movement barely perceptible beneath the crisp linen of his trousers. The ceremony had already dragged on far too long. He adjusted his tie, feeling the silk constrict his throat. The best man’s speech, a meandering tale of college antics, went on and on. He craned his neck, trying to see the exit, desperately calculating how long he could politely linger before making his escape. The room was getting stuffy, and he felt a growing pressure behind his eyes. He wished they would just get to the dancing.
