The doctor's words replayed in her head, the initial diagnosis now warped by the knowledge that her files had been crossed with another's. She kept fiddling with the chain of her necklace. Her fingers were clumsy. Her pulse raced.

She felt a wave of dizziness wash over her, a physical manifestation of her mounting anxiety. The prospect of someone else's medical history controlling her future was chilling. She wanted to scream.

The paperwork seemed endless, each page a testament to her helplessness. She glared at the slow-moving nurse. "Can we speed this up, please?" she said, her voice strained and tight. The nurse offered a weak smile.
