The sales figures on the screen blurred as David blinked, trying to focus. His transfer to the research department was imminent. The paperwork was complete. Yet here he was, reviewing quarterly reports, a task that now seemed completely irrelevant.

He hated this task. He took another look at his email, then at the clock. It was slow. He wanted it to be fast. He was ready to leave.

He closed his laptop with a snap. He walked to the window and stared at the park outside. He wanted to go there.
