He bounced his knee, the movement frantic and almost violent. The reunion invite sat on his desk, its shiny surface reflecting the harsh fluorescent light of his office. Liam clicked the pen incessantly, the clicking a sharp counterpoint to the drone of the air conditioning. He’d read the email three times already, memorizing the date, the location, the dress code. The hours until the event seemed to stretch out like an eternity. He wanted to fast forward, to skip past the mundane hours of his life and arrive at the moment he could finally prove to them how much he had changed.
