The phone felt heavy in Maya's hand. She clicked refresh on her social media, again, and again. She kept seeing the image: "Aunt Millie's Famous Chocolate Chip Cookies," which had been her family's trademark for years, now being replicated on a commercial scale. Except, these were being sold by some conglomerate, and they were *everywhere*.

She paced the length of her tiny apartment, the linoleum floor cold against her bare feet. The lack of sleep was adding to her already fragile state. She felt like she was trapped in a cage. Her dream of opening a small bakery had felt within reach, but now…She felt a strange sort of dread creep up her spine.

She wanted to call her lawyer, to fight this fight. But what if it was too late? She closed her eyes, trying to calm her racing thoughts. Opening her eyes, she started typing her own response.
