The hospital waiting room reeked of disinfectant and desperation. Marcus felt a burning sensation in his stomach. Each slow tick of the clock, each cough and sigh from other occupants seemed to mock him. His half-sister had been injured in an accident, and he was stuck here, *waiting*. He was a mess.
