The old woman, Mrs. Gable, was taking her time. She was counting out the bills, slowly, deliberately. In the store, the line snaked behind her. Sarah stood directly behind her, watching.

Mrs. Gable was her neighbor. The woman lived in the biggest house, the one with the pool and a car she barely even drove. She felt herself wanting to scream at the woman to *hurry up*. To stop, and just buy what she needs.

Each bill counted felt like a punch. Her heart raced. This was how the rich treated the world. The slow pace, the nonchalant nature… all of it. Sarah needed to get home. She had bills to pay.
