A bead of sweat trickled down Sarah’s forehead as she stared at the printed copy. This was it: her essay, now a shining beacon of writing potential. She gripped the paper tightly, crumpling the corner slightly. Every moment felt like an eternity.

She had applied for a scholarship and was waiting on news. The suspense was unbearable. Each passing second seemed to stretch into an hour. The essay, her vulnerability, was now a showcase.
